Thankfully, Bluepoint Games proved they are more than capable of recreating the 2009 classic and even adding to it ever so slightly. Now this doesn’t mean it’s a perfect remake, as I would have loved to have seen some changes to a handful of components, such as item burden and online. Coop has some unfortunately limitations, specifically only being able to summon phantoms.
One change that will affect players’ encumbrance — aka how much stuff their character can carry — is how much healing grass they can hold. In the original Demon’s Souls, players could carry hundreds of healing grasses with them and suffer no real penalty. In the remake, players will have a more limited supply, and more powerful grasses (like Full Moon Grass) will weigh more than less effective grasses.
You can also find him providing insight on the latest AAA titles from Elden Ring to GTA 6 and exploring the world of gacha games like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves. If he’s not looking for the latest video game news, you’ll find him cheering on Ferrari in the race tracks of Formula 1 or at the theatres for the latest MCU releases. The remake made by Bluepoint in 2020 was one of the PlayStation 5’s launch titles and has remained locked to the console ever since. Given its critical acclaim and success, it’s logical that the company would decide to bring it to PC. Grubb also explains that Demon’s Souls makes sense as Sony’s next move, pointing out that it, alongside Gran Turismo 7, feels overdue for a wider release.
In the original, the game’s World Tendency shifted from black to white, depending on your actions. World Tendency’s level of light or darkness would cause certain events to happen as the tendency changed. And when played online, the actions of all players in aggregate affect the tendency, which can make the game unpredictable. But there is one small change that veteran Demon’s Souls players will welcome.
Boletaria appears more as a collection of tiny, maze-like levels lacking a cohesive theme. While these levels harbor secrets due to World Tendency, they fail to evoke the sense of an epic journey, a quality I cherished in Elden Ring. Moreover, due to not being an open-world game, be aware that Demon’s Souls provides extremely limited options to deviate from the main path to find better gear or become stronger while exploring. Bosses in Demon’s Souls resemble puzzles, rather than the direct fights in Elden Ring. It’s akin to Shadow of the Colossus, with each adversary hiding a secret of how you need to cook them.
From console exclusives to third-party hits, the PS5’s library is full of great games. You may even want to use magically-infused weapons to deal extra damage. Here’s a quick list of useful items and weapons you’ll want to track down.
The original Dark Souls released for PS3 bendera88 back in 2011, and was remastered for PS4 seven years later in 2018. Dark Souls 2 initially released in 2014, also for PS3, but re-released with all of the DLC included in the Scholar of the First Sin edition a year later (2015) on PS4. For those unfamiliar with Bluepoint Games, it is the developer behind the remake of Shadow of the Colossus. This remake was praised for its ability to update the game’s graphics and controls while still maintaining the atmosphere and emotional weight which made the original so esteemed. As such, fans are thrilled for its remake of Demon’s Souls, as many believe the studio will live up to its name yet again.
With jaw-dropping visuals and rewarding gameplay, the Demon’s Souls remake on PS5 is the system’s first must-have exclusive game. [newline]That’s not to say the Demon’s Souls remake isn’t as moody and despondent as its predecessor—its gloom runs deep. But the first time I saw lightning briefly illuminate the Tower of Latria’s tentacle-faced, Lovecraftian prison guards and errant spikes from Storm Beasts shatter like glass on dingy mountain cliffs were near-religious experiences. Boletaria, apocalyptic though it is, feels more like a living, breathing world than ever before.

Another K-drama to check out if demons posing as humans is your cup of tea is My Demon. This popular romance series highlights the love story between the rich heiress of a conglomerate and a demon living as a human after losing his powers. The two sign a marriage contract for their mutual benefit, agreeing to help each other’s interests. In the process, they fall in love, but face the obstacles that come with their unconventional union. The shows on this list have been picked for their resemblance to K-pop Demon Hunters in terms of themes, plot, and storytelling points.
Each weapon has a light and heavy attack, and many let you choose whether to wield them with one or two hands. Various armor sets and shields can weigh you down, meaning you’ll have to choose whether you want better defense, or more mobility. You can also learn both arcane and holy spells, and use them to damage your foes or empower yourself. There are a ton of options for how to play, and all of them feel both intuitive and precise. Unlike the Dark Souls series, which is fully developed by From Software and published by Bandai Namco, Demon’s Souls was a collaboration between From Software and Sony Interactive Entertainment Japan Studio. Sony, presumably, owns the intellectual property, and until very recently, hasn’t released any of its games on PC.
At the end of the tunnel kill the Fat Official for the Official’s Clothes. Now go a bit north and down the stairs, there is a big flame bug here, Patches one floor lower and Ring of Flame Resistance just after the bug (you need to kill the bug to pick it up). Just bellow the ring you can pick up the Club weapon and talk to Patches to finish his part 1 of his questline if you want. Return to Nexus to die there and you can continue in your soul form onto the next world. [newline]A presentation retrieved from the massive Insomniac data breach in December 2023 showed concept art for in-development projects at several PlayStation studios, including Bluepoint Games. The artwork depicts two characters holding spears overlooking what seems like an Aztec pyramid, with the general theme skewing towards the fantasy side. Also returning is Demon’s Souls’ asynchronous multiplayer, a system that lets you travel to other players’ game worlds, and allows your own to be visited in turn.
World Tendency is a system that controls enemy difficulty, loot quality and governs certain other events. When a player’s Tendency is white, enemies are easier but don’t drop rare loot, and the opposite is true for black Tendency. Playing the game offline means only your actions throughout control this balance, but online play opens you up to a community-shared World Tendency state affected by everyone. Instead, Demon’s Souls, like Shadow of the Colossus before it, breaks down the visual language of a classic to achieve little in return.

I feel like Bluepoint could have made rolling a lot smoother here, and it wouldn’t have broken the balancing of the game. What you might find particularly cair78 amazing is the interaction between the NPCs and the player as you help them on their way. It’s hard to sum up in words just exactly how expertly weaved together their tales are, but suffice it to say that it has never been replicated to this degree in any Souls game since, Bloodborne included. Demon’s Souls will also have a vast number of visual improvements.
There’s nothing else currently available on either next-gen console that matches the sheer thrill of running across a bridge in Demon’s Souls while a dragon screeches overhead, blasting everything with blinding, devastating fire. The 3D audio, the cutting-edge graphics, and the haptic feedback all come together to make these moments hit harder than was ever possible on older hardware. So, the idea of paying $570 to experience a title that is just an old game with a fresh coat of paint may seem somewhat excessive, especially when the original title can be played for just a fraction of said cost.
